The scripts have a slightly different purpose.ĬreateFolderArt ensures that every album folder ends up with a Folder.jpg image which is the art that iTunes already knows about. I have two scripts that can potentially help with this, CreateFolderArt and EmbedFolderArt. You can create a smart playlist with the rule Has Artwork is False, select what shows up in it, right-click and use Get Album Artwork from the context menu, assuming you are signed into an Apple ID and have given iTunes permission to fetch metadata for you.Įmbedding art makes it easier to copy music files from one library to another and have the correct art when you do so. See Make a split library portable - Apple Community to make sure the entire library, including the artwork cache, is on the external drive and can be moved from one computer to another without losing anything in the transition. I want to know how to do it right the hard way. Yes, I may get a third party app to help, but i'm not even sure they do it correctly, noting the external drive. So, I'm starting the process of Add and Clean art, BUT I want to do it right going forward. I eventually with a lot of work and errors got all the tracks, and missing tracks, and albums lot of the Art did not make it. My problem arose, when I moved the External drive data to another Larger drive, reattached everything. Still the process for adding the Art works, it gets into the iTunes t sure where it goes though. I have been downloading the internet Art( eg from Amazon) to the maindrive Documents folder, NOT onto the external drive. I know the process of going to tracks "song Info, Add Art, then finding the JPEG file of the Art I have found online via Google think I may have been doing it wrong. I need to add and clean up Album Art, there's a lot missing. itl etc on that drive, NOT on main drive, in Windows 10. I have a very large library(over 200,000 tracks) on an external drive with all support files eg.
